Can you tell us more about you, your role, and what you do?
My name is Sam Crowley and I am a Senior Administrator at Monenti Partners. I have over 25 years experience, working life started for me in Marine Insurance before moving on to work for Deloitte, Mercer & Goldman Sachs, before settling in the financial planning profession.
My role at Monenti Partners is to work with Fiona Dias and support the team with the various administrative tasks. From ensuring we have the most up to date information from our clients, providers and colleagues in the industry, to Financial Planning meeting preparation and execution of tasks resulting from those meetings. This enables us to deliver the financial planning journey each one of our clients so rightly deserve.
I also support the paraplanners in their roles, obtaining information from various providers in relation to clients existing plans ensuring we have the information required in order to provide the most suitable advice.
What are your specialties?
I approach most things with a calm, positive and proactive manner. I love speaking to clients and helping them even if only in the smallest way to achieve their goals.
What is the favourite part of your role?
I love speaking to clients first and foremost and it’s a great feeling being able to help someone with a problem, no matter how small. A client may not remember exactly what you did for them, but they will remember how you made them feel. I always think about how I would want my family to be treated, are we clear enough in our messages, have we gone above and beyond for that client. My role is predominately helping the Financial Planners to build a picture of their client’s financial journey. Whether that be how their Pensions and Investments have performed over the last year within their Financial Planning Meeting Reports, or looking at what other Investments and Pensions they may hold and gathering the necessary information on those.
What does the future hold for Monenti Partners?
Everyone at Monenti Partners ensures they take the time to continually improve their knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing financial profession. Looking internally at our processes and procedures, making and exploring changes to those so we are continually evolving. This helps us continue our Mission of taking clients from Financial Uncertainty to Financial Freedom. Helping them to set achievable objectives which align to their lives and their long-term goals. The team are focused on delivering positive outcomes for all of our clients as every client deserves to feel confident in their Financial Planning journey. Which for some at first can seem a most daunting task.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to work in the financial services profession?
Having experienced working in a few different industries over the years I would say that it is important to feel happy, supported and motivated in your role. Financial Services can be terrifically rewarding however can be extremely demanding at times. If you enjoy speaking to people and are passionate about helping them to achieve the future they deserve then it is definitely the profession for you. Find a company that supports and nurtures your learning and helps you achieve growth within your role.
What do you think the future of financial planning looks like?
Financial Planning is now more important than ever as the world continues to change. Effective financial and retirement planning starts with setting goals and objectives, looking at the long and short term plans of the client and putting those plans necessary in place to help each client achieve those goals, I think we need to be teaching the younger generations about the importance of financial planning now and how it will affect them in years to come. It is never too early to start saving & investing. Sometimes we are so focused on living our lives, you blink and you’ve missed it and reach an age where like so many they have no real preparations in place for their future.
There will always be someone who will at some point in their life require financial advice and we need to be there for when that time arises, providing a clear, consistent and transparent message.
This Briefing is intended only for clients and prospective clients of our practice. It is designed to inform, educate, and entertain. It does not constitute advice. If you would like a detailed discussion of your financial planning, or any other point raised here, then please do not hesitate to contact us. Please note that past performance is not necessarily a guide to the future and investors may not get back the amount originally invested as the value of any investment and the income from it is not guaranteed. The Financial Conduct Authority do not regulate taxation advice. The tax treatment of investments depends on individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future. The value of your investments can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invested. A pension is a long term investment. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. Your eventual income may depend on the size of fund when accessed, interest rates and legislation.
